Paint decon is a process in where you remove all iron particles/debris which is embedded into the clear coat of your paint. These particles can damage your paint increasing the chances of swirls and scratches to the paint. The particles come from industrial fallout such as construction areas, train tracks etc.
Clay bar is a process to help remove any contaminants from the clear coat of your vehicle. It also helps to give a smooth clean feel to the touch which also helps to lay down some paint protection.
The biggest difference from each is going to be the longevity from each type of paint protection.
Wax- can give your vehicle protection, gloss, water beading for 3 months - 1 year (depending on application of spray or paste wax)
Sealant- can give your vehicle protection, gloss, water beading, minor self cleaning properties, UV protection for 3 months - 1 year (depending on application of spray or paste sealant)
*Some sealants also share the same Si02 hydrophobic properties as ceramic coatings
Ceramic coating- can give your vehicle protection, enhanced gloss, water beading, self-cleaning properties making the vehicle much easier to clean and dirt to cling to the clear coat, UV protection for 1 year - 10+ years (depending on the kind of ceramic coating)
